This Privacy Policy explains what information HiHelloBye (“HiHelloBye”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our free chat rooms at hihellobye.info, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HiHelloBye you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Guest use. You can chat as a guest with only a nickname. We do not ask guests for their real name, email address or phone number.
Registered accounts. If you register, we store your nickname, your password (stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in plain text) and any optional details you choose to give, such as an email address, gender, profile picture or status message.
Content you share. Messages you send in rooms, private messages, images, voice notes and other files you upload are stored on our servers so they can be delivered and shown to other users.
Technical and log data. When you join a room or log in, we record your IP address, browser/device type (user agent), an approximate location (country/city) derived from your IP address, and the time of your visit. This helps us run the service, prevent spam and abuse, and enforce bans.
Settings. We save the chat preferences you choose, such as font, colours, text size, theme and privacy options.
Calls are made with WebRTC and are usually connected directly between the people on the call. When a direct connection is not possible, the call may be passed through a relay server. We do not record calls. Your browser will only use your microphone or camera after you give it permission.
We do not sell your personal information, chat logs or profile data to advertisers or anyone else.
Your nickname, profile picture, status and the messages you post in public rooms can be seen by other people in those rooms. Private messages are visible to the person you send them to. Please do not share personal details (such as your phone number, address or passwords) in chat.
Room moderators and administrators may review messages, uploads and login records to enforce the rules, respond to reports of harassment or abuse, and remove content or users who break the rules. We may share information with law enforcement if we are legally required to, or if it is needed to protect someone from serious harm.
We use a small number of essential cookies and your browser’s local storage to keep you logged in, protect against abuse, and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. Our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) may also set cookies needed to protect the site from attacks and bots.
We use trusted third parties to host and protect the website, including our web hosting provider and Cloudflare (content delivery, security, and call relay). They process data only as needed to provide these services to us.
We keep account information for as long as your account exists. Messages, uploads and log records are kept only for as long as needed to run the chat, keep it safe, and meet legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Guest sessions are temporary.
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted HTTPS connections and hashed passwords. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a unique password for your account.
HiHelloBye is not intended for children under 13, and users under 18 should only use it with a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use HiHelloBye after a change means you accept the updated policy.
